...About MYDFL

MyDFL is committed to providing opportunities for young people to play an active role in our democracy.  For more information about our activities and programs, or to share your ideas for the organization, contact us.

 High School

Even if you're too young to vote, you're not too young to change the face of politics by starting a MYDFL high school chapter.  Campaigns are won on the power of volunteers, and Minnesota's motivated youth are the engine that drive successful campaigns.  High school members of MYDFL learn about the political process, shape policy priorities, and gain insights into citizenship that will last a lifetime.

College

MYDFL and College Democrats of Minnesota merged in 2007, to better organize college and university students.  College students who are involved in MYDFL are united in their commitment to extend the power and reach of the nation's newest voters.

20-Somethings

Young Minnesotans that are starting careers, working as activists, still in school or living other lifestyles are exposed to economic and social issues they may not have experienced earlier.  20-somethings who join MYDFL are essential to the advocation of justice and countering the influence of corporations on the political process.

30-Somethings

With a wealth of experience to share, our 30-something members help move MYDFL members beyond advocacy and into leadership.  Whether they work behind the scenes or run for elective office, they lend their influence to empower all young Minnesotans.

The Minnesota Young DFL is a volunteer-driven organization that engages young Minnesotans to participate and lead in Democratic politics.  The organization was founded in 1947 by Hubert H. Humphrey, Walter Mondale, Don Fraser and other young leaders, in an effort to make the voices of young people heard in Minnesota Politics.  Today, MYDFL empowers young people to have a voice in issues that affect them every day through programs, training, and outreach.  MYDFL is driven by the energy of more than 500 members, and we encourage the participation of young Minnesotans of all races, ethnicities, incomes, and sexual orientations.
